Preventive Care

Chronic diseases are increasing exponentially in the rural areas. Lack of awareness about eye and dental issue also continue to affect the communities. We are focused on the early detection of illness before it becomes too severe and we aim to curb the medical bills of patients by ensuring timely treatment/management of illnesses. We screen and educate the rural poor about chronic lifestyle diseases, eye issues and dental care through our outreach efforts in remote rural areas.

TOTAL BENEFICIARIES SCREENED

THROUGH DOOR-TO-DOOR PREVENTIVE CARE SCREENINGS
Our trained Rural Healthcare Assistants—women from within the communities— conduct door-to-door screenings in rural households. They are equipped with portable medical devices such as blood pressure measuring device, pulse oximeter, eye-chart and near-vision books, digital questionnaire accessed through a smartphone and ready-made spectacles with varying degrees of eye power for screening purposes. They screen for illnesses such as gastric irritation, blood pressure, blood sugar, dental issues, eye problem, skin issues, joint pain, etc.
If the screening results point to any underlying condition, then the RHAs encourage them to seek medical care from any nearest healthcare centre. We also have dedicated tele-callers who follow up with the beneficiaries and check with them about seeking medical treatment for their health condition post-screening. They also encourage them to seek treatment if found to have not sought treatment. We are also exploring breast, oral and cervical cancer screenings in rural communities to ensure early detection of cancer, as well as, raise awareness among the locals about the risks and possible symptoms.
